Fast Facts - Memphis
-The Con-way Freight team will be racing chassis RK-39 at Memphis. It last ran at Dover where Braun finished eighth. This truck also won at Memphis last year with Travis Kvapil, and Bristol in 2006 with Mark Martin. -Braun continues to lead the Raybestos Rookie standings. He now has a 16-point lead over second-place driver Donny Lia. -Braun is 14th in the overall driver point standings, but is only 126 points out of 10th place. He has one top-five and four top-10 finishes this season. -Braun has one prior start at Memphis. He competed in the Nationwide race last October. Colin Braun on racing at Memphis: "Memphis is one of the few tracks where I have some previous experience. I ran the Nationwide race there last year, and despite the 25 cautions for 117 laps, I actually got some racing experience there! Whenever I've been to a track before it's a huge help because then I've already figured out the little nuances of it. That saves some time that we can use for working on the truck. "This team won with Travis Kvapil at Memphis last year, so this would be a good place for us to get back on track after a tough break in Milwaukee. This team is used to being in the top 10 in points, so we're doing our best to get back up there." Crew chief Mike Beam on racing at Memphis: "This is a pretty good short-track truck we're taking to Memphis. We had a good run with it at Martinsville and Dover earlier this year, and it's the same truck Travis (Kvapil) won with at Memphis last year. We've had some bad luck lately with getting caught up in other people's messes, so hopefully we can keep our nose clean at Memphis - literally. I'd like to load it back on the transporter at the end of the race with the nose, fenders and bumper still on it." |
