Colin Braun Returns to Road Racing in Mexico City
Colin Braun will return to his road course racing roots this weekend when the NASCAR Nationwide Series visits Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City. Braun will be behind the wheel of the No. 16 3M Ford Fusion for his second Nationwide Series start of the season.
The 19-year-old has five years of road course racing experience including two starts at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in the Rolex Grand AM Daytona Prototype races. He finished second in 2006, and started on the pole and finished second in 2007. This will be Braun's first start on the track in a stock car. "I'm really excited to get to Mexico City this weekend," said Braun. "It'll be fun to be at a track where I have more experience than a lot of the other Nationwide Series drivers. I know the 3M Ford Fusion will be fast. I'm ready to get down there - it's going to be a lot of fun."
In preparation for this weekend, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular joined his Roush Fenway Racing teammates for a test session at Virginia International Raceway last month. Braun has one Nationwide Series start this season. He qualified ninth and finished 15th at Nashville Superspeedway last month. He will return to action in the No. 6 Con-way Freight Ford F-150 in the Craftsman Truck Series next weekend at Kansas Speedway, April 26. |
